How can I tell if the peptides I'm buying are real?

Updated 2026-05-02

Research-grade peptides sold online have no requirement to test for purity, potency, or endotoxins. US regulators have specifically cited peptide-related impurities and active ingredient characterization as safety concerns for compounds like BPC-157 and TB-500. The only way to know if your vial is what it claims to be is a batch-matched Certificate of Analysis from an independent lab. Without it, purity, dose, and sterility are unknown.

IfIf a vendor cannot produce a batch-matched CoA from an independent lab
Thenthen purity, dose, and sterility are unknown - do not inject
IfIf a vendor passes tests this month
Thenthen don't assume next month's batch will - CoA verification is batch-specific
IfIf a product is labeled for research use only
Thenthen it has no required testing for human-use safety
Key facts
  • US regulators cited 'complexities with regard to peptide-related impurities and API characterization' as a formal safety concern across multiple peptides including BPC-157, TB-500, ipamorelin, and GHRP-2
  • Research-grade peptides have no requirement to meet USP endotoxin or sterility standards for injectables
  • Inter-laboratory variability in peptide purity measurement is documented even under controlled HPLC conditions - vendor self-reported purity claims require independent validation
  • Unapproved versions of GLP-1 drugs have been documented to contain too little, too much, or no active ingredient at all
