What to Expect
Can I drink alcohol on a GLP-1?
Updated 2026-05-04
Most people drink way less on GLP-1s. The same drug that quiets food cravings tends to quiet alcohol cravings too. The risks: alcohol on a slow stomach hits harder and lasts longer, nausea is much worse the day after, and your blood sugar can dip lower than usual. If you drink, keep it small, eat first, and skip alcohol on injection day if you can.
IfIf you usually have 2-3 drinks
Thenthen expect 1 drink to feel like 2 once you titrate up
IfIf you're already nauseated from your last dose
Thenthen skip alcohol completely until that fades
IfIf you have a history of pancreatitis
Thenthen avoid alcohol on GLP-1s entirely - both raise pancreas risk
